Smile why we are on this forum cont.....

I joined this Forum when I was in Prague, and needed information to plan our move and generally find out what we had to do. I looked at other sites -didn't like their 'tone'. One in particular was full of rude, moaning old gits complaining about Spain and all things Spanish as they had lost money over various deals, mainly off-plan purchases which fell through, chiefly it seemed because of their gullibility.. I especially liked a post from a woman saying that her estate agent who sold her the house had been so nice...he even took her to a lawyer he said would help her complete the purchase....and they bought her lunch
Because of a form downloaded from the Sticky page I had everything I needed to get my NIE. Others in the queue at the Foreign Police looked enviously at my completed Solicitud and asked where I had gone to get it. 'My study' I replied....
Stravinsky helped with a few queries I had about bringing a UK plated LHD car.
So this site is a veritable cornucopia of knowledge....for those who aren't afraid to ask and admit their ignorance. I've learnt about all sorts of things from recipes to cleaning my swimming pool. I don't think there's a single subject I could ask about and not get several helpful answers.

I haven't been able to leave the house for ten days, but at least I can now straighten up without an involuntary cry of 'F***!!!!' every time I try to do so. Fortunately there is no-one English-speaking for a few km radius, as far as I know.

We 'ang on yer every word!!

Seriously, you won't remember as it was over four years and many posts ago but you gave advice about rental costs and types of properties, all spot-on.
You also sent some links for agencies and suggested a few places we should visit.

We took your advice, went to Coin and the Alhaurins but didn't take to any of them.

But at least thanks to you we looked inland as well as on the coast. You also recommended Mijas, Ronda and Casares, if I remember rightly.

Well I'm glad I was of use! Thats what forums are all about tho isnt it. we all help each other, we all offer whatever advice we can, nice or not, simply cos we've been there, done it and dont want to see others make the same mistakes!!! People come along and then once they've learnt a bit, they then offer advice back, making friends along the way

Goodness, I'm sorry you haven't been able to get out and about. You must have really bashed yourself!

I joined the forum when I was looking for a English native speakers camp for my daughter. I looked for ever on the net and was eventually led to forums. The only one that looked organised, well used and with sensible people posting was this one, so I gave it a go. I didn't find a camp for my daughter, but I did find a lively group of people exchanging opinions about a whole load of things.
I don't belong to any other forums although I occasionally take a look at others, and recognise a few people from here posting on other forums with different names. I gave a Spanish forum a go and a book club as well, but gave them both up due to the pettiness of some posters and the power mad "leaders" who invented stupid rules to follow just because, and wouldn't react to suggestions for improvements by other members.
Although we've had the occassional troll on here, and there's a bit of "friction" from time to time, I'd say we get along pretty well.
I never thought I'd be discussing the economics of Spain, Madrid underground, alternative medicine and once in a while (!) education with a group of total strangers, but I do enjoy it!

I love this forum and all the people on it! I thought when I left Spain that I wouldnt want to come on here anymore, to the point where I "resigned" from being a moderator, but I couldnt leave, I think I missed Spain so much and didnt want to miss you lot too! The forum owner didnt take much notice of my request to resign - I guess he knew that I enjoyed being on here.

I often say forums are like bars and when you find one htat has great people and a great atmosphere you tend to stay with it. Occasionally new people come and join in, occasionally people drift in and out again and quite rarely we get a troll, which can be quite amusing and entertaining (I quite enjoy it when we all get our hackles up lol). But the regulars are around and I see them all as friends now - eventhough I've met only a few!

Then of course we have thread drift - er............. how much further away can we take this one lol!!! Xabiachica is the expert on untangling and separating threads that go too far off topic

Every morning when I wake up, I go to the mirror, take a peek and discover a total stranger staring back at me. Before I quit this mortal coil, before I have given up the ghost, before the bird of life quits my aged frame, before my lids become heavy and enclosed, before I fly to Abraham's bosom (sorry Bill), I plan to find out who this total stranger is....
