When I lived in NYC, I twice saw a Prairie Home Companion live. It was great fun but also strange to see Mr. Keillor and Company in the flesh instead of just listening to their voices.

Exactly. Years ago before he was GARRISON KEILLOR, and was just the host of the morning show with Jim Ed Poole (the guy who does the sound effects on PHC), I volunteered to answer phones for a pledge drive.

Suddenly, there was the VERY tall man, trying his best to stay invisible as he walked through a room of volunteers. The whispers started "That's Garrison!"

I had a pretty good idea that he might be shy, as so many people who are famous for radio are. But I had no idea how tall he was. Makes fading into the woodwork that much harder, for certain.

Yes, he is a very tall man, with a lovely soft voice.

In Guadalajara junk yards are sometimes referred to as "huesarios" and close to the US border they are "yonkes".

"Huesarios" from "huesos", no doubt. What a great word! Thanks.

for the most part, this is where we go off topic, regarding Mexico and expats.
it's supposed to help control thread drift back on the main board.

but i suspect it really serves another function.
when i get too carried away, this place is what they mean when they say,
"ed, go to your room and stay there til i say you can come out."

Think of it as "behind the forum logo"...
