Firstly, I am not looking to set up a business and as far as the Greek government is concerned I cannot see how it can have an objection to Greek people who put up their English friends for no money.

The fact that the English people offer to return the compliment by inviting their Greek friends to stay in England is of no concern to anybody else. And of course while they are staying with their Greek friends they just might buy all the food for a couple of months and perhaps a freezer if needed to keep it fresh and maybe pay some outstanding bills.

No money would change hands. All we need is a contact living in Greece with a good network of Greek friends and we could make this happen. It could be you, why not? Put me in touch with a Greek family who could really do with a lift and my wife and I will be delighted to stay with them, we see them over here on TV, but have no way of contacting them. And when I hire a car what better way to see the real Greece than through the experienced and knowledgeable eyes of a local?

What I am proposing is a twist on the swap homes arrangement that people are doing all the time all around the world and I know they do it in Greece so where’s the problem?

People don’t need politicians and lawmakers to live, people just want to be left alone and that’s people all over the world. They will work in the Capitalists’ factories, bring up the Capitalists’ coal and make the Capitalists’ cars all so the Capitalist can make his grubby billions and all they ask in return is to live warm and comfortable with family and friends. But the Capitalist gets greedy and wants more and pretty soon we have the situation we are seeing in Greece, Italy, Ireland and watch out poor little Portugal as they are coming for you.

All I am saying is let’s help our sisters and brothers with a little help from their friends (whoops and I don’t even like the Beatles!)

I am 65 years of age with a background in the Criminal Justice System. Over the years I have read about, heard about and when as part of a task force set-up to look into corruption and the frightening behaviours of those with the power (paedophiles and body parts for sale) I along with colleagues from other departments was threatened with bodily harm if I did not step back (it led me to write a book) Well I have had enough of it. My wife and I are watching a country and a people that we love so much go to pieces and we need to do something to help.

I will source the network in the UK. Once again, will you be the Greek contact to help make this plan work? If not please don’t stand in the way of this happening show this message to somebody who will help. And what about all you other people who are reading this, haven’t you been pushed around by the system, wouldn’t you like to help people who are being bullied into non-existence? Because at the end of the day, that is what this is about, bullying!

Ed.
Our forum isnt the place to try to start a revolution in another country. Its an information forum.

Hi there,

Is that all you can say after reading my considered post? If there is a revolution I think you might find it is the banks and the corrupt people in high places that are the cause. All I am attempting to do is ease the plight of the innocent people caught in the crosshairs.

Cool

lm a bit unsure what u really want to do as l dont think greeks can have people staying in their homes without receiving rent but as someone said,it has to be declared .my greek husband and l built a beautiful house on the corinthos bay, too big for two people really with a separate semi basement appartment.one summer l met a couple from sweden who were desparate for a room for the night so l let them in took over my house went through my things both had big pension but wriggled out of paying the sixty euros for 2 nights.Said oh yes we will stay longer every year in your house (without money of course dont want to pay for electric or water)This is a cottage for us we live in athens,so most of the time its an empty house in a glorious area.l would be happy to receive some small rents on it through the summer and to share what l i have with good other people as its such a therapeutic area and the weather can be heaven as long as people have respect and good behavier for me and my house and are not misers.we can all pull together and enjoy as long as we do not abuse kindness shown to us.

You need an excellent accountant and lawyer. I would suggest you put this plan on hold for the time being especially as the country is in shambles!
I think house sharing is a brilliant idea and if you choose to buy a few groceries and pay for a bit of wear & tear of the property what the hell has it got to do with anyone else.

I'm up for it !!

I'd quite given up on this forum kefvmr due to the negative comments and misreading of my post and the general 'we-can't-do-anything-about-the-situation-the-theiving-banksters-have-put-us-in-so-let's-just-sit-down-and-die' attitude. It's great to hear somebody with balls and common sense talking.

If you can help get this off the ground I would like to hear from you.
Just think how nice it would be to spend a pleasant Christmas with a greek family and cheer up some little children this year.

But you'd better move quick before some idiot admin clown with a power complex closes me down.

er...... dont forget whose forum you are writing onl! So try not to be so rude - it doesnt make you look or sound good! I hope you make sure that CRB checks are done etc, otherwise who knows what you might be condemning some innocent greek family to, "cheering up their little children over christmas" or indeed vise versa

Just my opinion.
I am negative and of course I'm jobsworth - I'm a moderator!!!!!!! To come onto a forum and decide that Greek "brothers and sisters" need our help by allowing us to move in and help them with bills is fraught with dangers on so many levels it doesnt bare thinking about - its a truly appalling idea! Not only is it a rather arrogant suggestion, its against forum rules to suggest something that is illegal - which it would be, regardless of whether you are a capitalist or not! and on a personal note, I'm pretty certain that if I hit hard times, the last thing I'd want is a bunch of foreign holiday makers living in my home and buying my groceries - however poor I might be.

If I have misunderstood then I apologise, but I'm not stupid and one has to assume that if I have indeed misunderstood, its because it hasnt been conveyed very well!!!!........Oh and how negative do you expect us to be when we are referred to as "some idiot admin clown"!!!!

Jo xxxx
