Thumbs down problems

Hi,
I know that they like to charge for almost anything they do. Unlike another agency that I have been to that instead includes everything in commission just in case of purchase. Many friends of mine have had this kind of problem besides myself. Luckily I was able to find the perfect property through another agency in Abruzzo that I recently discovered. I would suggest to look around..
Ciao! Nicole

hi
We found the fees to be too expensive at House around Italy.
We were lucky to have found Sweet Italy Estates who charge a small amount and do a lot for you. Have already posted a note on this previously. We are now in the process of purchasing with Paola (Sweet italy).

Hello Valerie
I have been with 3 agents from Pescara area including H around I. My first trip out they did not get back to me till I had returned home and on my second trip out I had a very full 3 day schedule of viewings around a wide area all the agents were friendly except the one that did not turn up even though i rang him several times and HaI couldnt get in touch with him.
I feel very lucky to have found Abruzzo Houses who are based in Pescara and only charge 3%. They have been real gems to me. I found my home on my first trip in April saw it again a couple of weeks ago with a geometra for advice and they helped me negotiate a fair price with the vendor. Try them. They offer the full service.

We recently used HouseAroundItaly and found them extremely annoying and time-wasting. Apart from one "scout" they used, all the others were late, took their time with us hogging our day so that we only saw 2 or 3 properties a day (annoying when we had a limited timescale of 4 days for house-hunting). Several of the properties I had earmarked to see (after many confirmatory emails before we left) were suddenly not available plus they took us to properties that were not at all suitable and clearly belonged to friends of theirs. When they heard we had another appointment later in the day with another agent, they deliberately dragged their heals, wafting around, chatting to various people (none of whom were introduced to us) and tried everything in their power to avoid us keeping the appointment. Not once did any of the "scouts" invite us to their offices dotted around Abruzzo, nor did they bring printed details of any properties that they insisted we saw. All in all, most infuriating and we wasted a perfectly good house-hunting trip with them.
Additionally, they didn't want to be clear about their agency fees, certainly nothing was presented to us in writing, despite asking for clarification many times. I shan't use them again.
Sorry to ramble on, but I'm still so cross about them (a week later!).

Hello Esther

We are moving over to Itay permanently at the end of August so we will rent for a few months (as soon as we find somewhere to rent!) and then take our time looking for that perfect home. We've decided to contact just local (Italian) agents in the areas of our choice, plus use one or two other English-speaking agents we have come across.

I hope you manage to find independent advice on your prospective new place in Avellino - the very best of luck on that. I certainly wouldn't take anything an agent from HousearoundItaly says as gospel.... certainly some of the "scouts/agents" working for them are better than others, but our experience has showed us to be very wary of them. One place they showed us clearly had major structural concerns (Acro props keeping it up) and yet they said that all that was needed was a "lick of paint" and it will be as good as new! Just ridiculous.

Good luck again - and do keep us posted on your progress.

Regards, Noodlepip xx

Hi, yes i bought 2 1/2 years ago with them and has been a nightmare. Did try and see if others had probs as had seen negative comments after but they usually get taken off! I would avoid though I know some people have been pleased. You get locked in to using "their" people and i still have probs getting money out of my italy account due to this and feel u are in catch 22 position all the time. I think its prob a minefield with all the agents about now. Check prices of a few agents and independently and try and do as much yourself. if you speak the lingo obviously a big boon! if can be of any other help let me know. Liz
