Hi All!
My name is Gerhard Laubscher. I am currently doing contract-work on the Antarctic continent at the SANAE base for the South African Government until March 2k9, afterwhich I will return to Cape Town, looking for new job oppertunities. My reason for joining this forum is to realize a dream in working in Dubai, thus finding out more about job-oppertunities in Dubai, how-to-guide into securing a job etc. Currently I am employed as the 'Electronic Engineer' for our Overwinter-team of 10 people. My responsibilities include Electronic equipment maintenance, managing our network and basically looking after all the electronic systems on the SANAE base. I am 46yrs old, and well, yes, thats about it!

I am looking forward to chatting with people who are currently working in Dubai or can give me any advise or interesting information re my quest to securing a working oppertunity in Dubai.

I hope that I can add to this forum in a meaningfull way in the future as much as I wish to learn from all of you here!

Wow, you are not only working in Antarctica, but over-wintering. Dubai will mean quite a climate change for you. Why did you decide to work in Antarctica, and why for the winter?
