Default Hi there

Hi,

My name's Billy and I'm hoping to move to Melbourne next summer. I haven't been to Oz before and I don't know anybody there either so I'm quite nervous. I just wanted to give it a try and see how it goes! So if anyone can give me any info about Melbourne or any hints and tips in general that would be great

Hi Billy,
my name is Simona and I live in Edinburgh! I also hope to move down under next year, looking for a job there at the moment... I am wondering if it's easier to just go there and then try to find a job rather than doing it from here... what's your plan? good luck anyway

HI Billy

Welcome to EF. We moved to Australia 15 months ago (NSW though) so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Will you be moving on your own or do you have a family coming across with you?

Default Hey everybody

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. Well my plan is that I'm moving on my own ( scary I know!) and I've already applied for my visa, just need to send my stuff to the TRA. I think I'll wait till I get there before I get a job. So what's your plan Simona? And Rach, are the people really as friendly as they make out?

Hi Billy, sorry work has been a nightmare recently so no much time to log in here... have you applied for the visa through one of this (expensive!) agencies or??? i am also planning to go by myself... very scary!!! i have a good job here so am not happy to leave it if i dont have an offer for one there or at least a sponsor for my visa... but then at the same time as long as i work i dont have much time to look for a job and i send cvs only over the weekend and not every weekend! how's your plan going?

Default Hey everybody

I decided to go through an agency (after all they know more than me I hope!). I'm now waiting for my qualifications and references to be sent to the TRA to be accessed. I've just been sent more forms to go through (what a pain!). So Simona, have you started to see about sponsorship? Where do you plan to move to?
