Hi
I have over 25 years in managing both internal and external sales teams, for a number of major companies. With responsibilities for developing a large retail operation, specialist direct sales and vertical market teams.

Please indicate the reason for your interest and I will forward my current CV should this be of assistance.

Regards

Martin

Welcome to the forum! We have an American forum in our By Country forum. Take a look through there for some information and advice on how difficult it is to emigrate to America.

Unless you have a close relative (mother, father, sibling, children but not aunts, uncles, and cousins) who is an American citizen, have good experience in a field where there is a shortage in the US, or work for an international company which will transfer you, your chances are not good. Read some of the posts for details.

Martin,

Visas??? This aspect can be a nightmare ... check them thoroughly and see if you qualify before doing anything. 9/11 changed everything here. We have been on a B1/B2 and this runs out next year and we shall not be able to renew, Not just the cost but because the rules have changed. Good luck. Have plenty of $$$ handy to pay attorneys! Tony.

We are looking at buying a business around the Florida/Carolina's, is it that difficult?

Hi Martin,

We are based near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I did not buy a business but opened a USA office for my Uk company which I own. The $$$ is king here so buying a business is not a problem if you have $$$. There is a minimum number of $$$ that you should invest that will sort of guarantee you a relevant Visa ( it used to be a million $) and maybe lead to a Green card. Please ... please see an Immigration attorney for updated information. Things change so fast. And be prepared for crazy beaurocracy and delays. I could write a book about it. No-one I know had a clear run at it or got a cheap deal. We are supposed to be their best ally - but the INS people and Visa branches have not been told that!

Come back if you need more info.

Tony.

Well, I don't think the UK, or any other western European country exactly makes it simple for US citizens to work or settle there, either. And actually we are pretty welcoming. The UK (except Northern Ireland) isn't eligible for the diversity visa (green card lottery) because there have been more than 50,000 inmmigrants to the US in the most recent five year period.

Default Usa

Hi Tony

We have seen an attorney and they have recommended we can go out on a B1/B2 to get us out there then apply for an extension followed by a transfer of status through the US immigration dept (not the UK visa dept) and as long as our business can prove to assist US citizens and not just give us an income we have a really good chance.

I have seen the attorney's results for successful Brits it is good.

You must be gutted, is there no way you can stay?

Could you not set up a true US business which would help your visa extension?

Whats Myrtle beach like?

Are there businesses out where you are I could look at?

Let me know if you may consider a business opportunity.

Martin
