Default Hello

Hello,

I'm a 22 year old guy who's looking for a new, peaceful and quiet home

I intend to live away from the city, where Im used to and sick of(Literally and figuratively) living in. I wish to live a different life, where I can live at a slower pace, with lesser demands and lesser pressures. Basically, living like an old turtle

Im very much at odd with the way other people live in the city, and for the most part, I lived with it. But with recent things going on in my life, I think this will be an opportunity for me to make the jump, and go back in time, to a simpler life

Good day Karen

I do not know yet where I want to go, as I have not traveled much. But maybe you folks here could imagine what that ideal place might be, if I present "my ideal day"

Waking up 4-5am in the morning, without the aid of an alarm clock or any unnatural device. I wish to start my day peacefully, by letting my body wake up of it's own accord, instead of being woken by foreign entities. No car horns interrupting me, no funny smells or smoke, no people screaming around.

After that, i would like to take a morning jog to get the blood flowing, and maybe pick up bread, cheese and fruits for my breakfast on the way back, and also the morning paper.

Prepare for my morning work and leave early, so I can get there with calmly and with time to spend and be ready, instead of scrambling around and realizing i left stuff at home.

I wish to be surrounded by people who enjoy their work. People who woke up and had a good morning like I did. People who do their work thoroughly, instead of being the "quick-fix jane" or "do it later larry" I wish to be around people who work because they enjoy it, not because they enjoy the pay.

I would want to be in a work, where we could resolve problems by discussing things and analyzing the problem, instead of screaming and demanding things, without regard for you

I wish to be in an environment where people live quality lives without needing expensive stuff to make them happy.

As I go home, i hope I have finished my job, so as not to bother me in the evening, or in the morning and take up more time for the new work day.

I would rather approach night just as I emerged from daylight, quiet and serene. With a hot soup in front of me, checking if everything has been done today, and everything is ready for tomorrow. With that in mind, i would be reading a good novel to prepare myself to sleep, ready for a new day

What you guys have to understand is, I do not intend to live in the inner city/downtown

I would be quite happy to just farm, or chop woods, or fix some old lady's house for all my life, while reading a good book

To better understand my situation, here's something about me

Born from an upper-middle class family where us children always got what we wanted. TV in our own room, AC, own computer, cellphone (2 each in the case of my siblings) enrolled in the top 3 universities. 4 Cars, 2 private vacation houses. No financial problems, basically

For 20 years, I have had things been given to me, even without me asking for it. Because of that, I am woefully ignorant of how to truly take care of my own self. I grew up to always wait for someone to tell me what to do if I have done wrong. To always put things off for later. Basically your generic spoiled self centered kid.

I have had glimpses of true well-being where I just lived a simple life for 3 months, when i went to "vacation" with my great grandmother in some far off province, where electricity is saved for bare necessities. We did not use TVs, electric fans. Heck, I had to dump a whole pale of water just to flush the toilet. We only used candles to light the dark. I had to trek to different areas to find new sources of local products that we could harvest and send to the market to sell

That is what I want, to live daily without people screaming at you to meet deadlines, without care if you had to sleep 1 hour a day if it meant you could finish a project that wasnt yours to begin with. I wish to work so that I can eat simple food for today and have some extra for tomorrow

I am aware that if I make this drastic change, that it will cause such a huge shock(not just culture shock, im sure) that I will be driven back to the current life I have here, where every essential is already in my grasp, and the only motivation for moving on with my life and working is to attain expensive material objects that I do not need or will be using anymore in the next year, when it will be just lumped off in the storage room, waiting to be replaced by another material object

I wish to start from scratch without any help, hopeful that the hardships I face would strengthen the core values that one needs in his life

I wish to work and earn well deserved money for the bare necessities that are needed to live. I do not intend to work a high paying job where I can afford to buy the nicest cars, buy multiple houses

I have asked for, and thrown away enough material posessions to find out that reading a good book, learning a new profession and new skills, playing all kinds of sports is enough to keep me happy during idle time

I have stopped asking for anything for 6 years now

Well, the places that have the simple life usually require that you struggle from dusk to dawn to get enough food, decent clothing, and put a roof over your head.

And there is no place on earth where everybody enjoys their jobs.
