Hi. I'm not an expat but would very much like to be. If anyone knows of a way I can find employment as an electrician in Hong Kong it would be greatly appreciated. I may even buy you a drink if I am ever lucky enough to get to Hong Kong

I am sure there is someone out there with good advice, but you need to check out the visa situation before you even think about a job.

A wonderful place to live

Where are you from? And why Hong Kong?

I'm from Brighton which has a pretty laid back attitude and is very friendly or so I thought but then I closed my eyes and put a pin in a map and it landed on Hong Kong. So I visited and I couldn't believe how amazing it is and how wonderful everyobody is. I love the pace of life, the people, everything! So since February I have been 4 times!
I have made some enquiries about visas etc. and so far have had a pretty positive response. I know it wont be as straight foreward or easy as I would like and in fairness why should it be. It would be very rude of me to think I could move there and take a job from somebody who was born and bread in Hong Kong

Wow, I don't know if I've ever met anyone who stuck a pin in a map to choose a destination (unless, of course, they very carefully folded their world map to include only, say, Tuscany). I did once let a ticket agent choose where I should go with an old ticket I hadn't been able to use.
