Move to New Zealand or possible work

Hiya,

Just a query really.
I'm a 33-year-old British guy with a background in media. I've worked for UK local newspapers as a sub-editor for around ten years. I'm university educated to HND level.
In recent months I have forged a close, online relationship with a woman in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm just intrigued to find out where I would stand with suitable work if I aimed to travel to NZ. I'd also consider voluntary work if there was a program that would cater for that. I'm interested in entomology, but not qualified in that field.
As I say, purely a query, but interested to know where I stand, should I aim to look for work in New Zealand.
