Smile Greetings from the Caribbean

I'm currently based in the southern caribbean and interested in living abroad. I'm married with three kids and educated up to Masters level. I have been looking mainly at Canada but am open to any location that is great for raising kids. I've mostly been searching on workopolis (got that tip from this site) but haven't heard anything yet. Not sure if i'm going about this the right way but definitely can't move before I get a job!

I know, believe me, you can get too much sun, sea and sand!

Sarah

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Wow, moving from the Caribbean to Canada would certainly be a major change! Have you ever been to Canada? It might not be a bad idea to plan a family vacation "up North" to scout out the area a bit (and to make yourself available should an employer express any interest).
Cheers,
Bev

Bev thanks! No I have never been to Canada but my husband has. He always thought I would like it and think it might be great for the kids. Not a bad idea to vaca there before moving. DO you know if I could also look for work while on vacation there? I know in some countries that's a nono if you don't have status there. We don't need visas to travel there but we would need workpermits to work there. I took their suitability to move test on the canadian government site and scored well into the 80's so I think I would do well. I speak French too so that helps alot. The cold will probably kill me though as the coldest it gets here is about 75 F.

I have met many Canadians who escape their own winters because it can be unbearable. Many of them seem to come south i.e. Argentina

Post on the Canadian forum, down in the By Country section. You'll get more people who know Canada that way.
