Default Newbie from UK looking at Canada/US

I joined this forum quite some time ago and love reading all the postings and queries. My partner and I are looking to emmigrate in the next few years and are torn between US and Canada...but due to the hassle with visas will more than likely be Canada as we both exceed the points allowance for entry.
We're hoping to marry some day but would prefer to let things happen naturally rather than rush due to immigration policy so Canada is probably our best option.

Hi and welcome.

I do think you're right about the US/Canada choice - certainly for the time being. (We can always hope that with a new administration next year, something in the immigration side of things might change, but don't hold your breath.)

From the time I have spent in Canada, there are some lovely places - I'm partial to Toronto (though it has been a while since I was last there) and the Vancouver area is beautiful.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi Bev, thanks for the warm welcome...we were really keen on the USA having travelled a lot there and I worked there on a student visa however the complex visa system kind of makes it a little too impossible!
We both love Canada too and are now looking at the PNP programmes for BC (to live in Vancouver), Alberta (for Calgary) or Nova Scotia (for Halifax).
Quality of life is really important to us with the UK in a terrible state and not looking to get any better!
