Just about to leave for France, anyone already in France from South Africa wishing to correspond? Are there any groups or gatherings where ex south africans can correspond or meet?

I haven't met too many South Africans here, but it might depend a bit on where in France you're heading. I do recall one woman from SA living in Montpellier.

Try checking the SA Embassy/Consulate website in France. They might have information about associations of SA expats.
