Hi Michele in SA, Yes I'm from Randburg, Joburg. I'm in Auckland NZ, just over 2 years now. The longer I'm here the more I miss SA, had to come here for work. NZ is very pretty but I miss those golden sunshine days & African blue skies. I will return in a few years (making a few bucks first).

Ahhh.. Cape Town! Most beautiful place on earth (sorry if I'm a little biased).

No, no, no, you're not biased! Cape Town IS without doubt the most beautiful city in the world!!

Have you met up with other South Africans in NZ? There must be some clubs u could join? Am sure there are many more homesick ones out there and having someone to talk to does help a great deal!

Hi Michele-in-SA

Yes, the SA's in NZ actually "group together" in certain suburbs (live & socialise). (Hee Hee safety in numbers I guess) I've noticed people of different demographics tend to stick together here, not sure exactly why.

I stay close to my work area (due to HEAVY Traffic congestion in Auckland), which is not close to the SA groups, so one tends to lose "touch". I just get to buy the odd piece of Biltong when I go out there.

Auckland is actually quite small compared to SA cities, I think Jhb & suburbs is around 7/8 million & not sure about CT & suburbs? Auckland only has 1.4 million people, trying to think of an SA city same size?

Sorry Michele, did not mean to get bogged down with numbers. I looked up Cape Town has est 3.5 million people, which is regarded HUGE in my current part of the world.

Can't remember, are there HADIDAS in Cape Town? You won't believe how I miss the call of the HADIDA, we had "too many" in Joburg, I never appreciated it!
