Its not easy
We had the benefit of a friendly Spanish neighbour when we got here, so the beaurocracy was not always that difficult.
But over time you manage to make yourself understood. Theres plenty of English speaking people around in commerce / shops, but its the government offices where you often come up against a brick wall!

Hi Desray and welcome to the forum. I suppose your first thought should be about how you can get a visa to live in Europe. Do you have a European connection? Getting visas can be difficult and a long and endless task.

Regards

Michelle

Hi Desray!

One general source is the European Union website - Europa - The European Union On-Line
Click on the English language portal and then take a look at the information on living and working in Europe.

Visa requirements are one thing that have NOT been "harmonized" within Europe. So you will need to contend with the individual visa requirements for each country you are considering. Check with the consulate of each country in your home country.

As far as the language issue goes, all I can say is to make an effort to learn the language before you get there. While there are lots of people who speak English in many European countries, you really will need some of the local language to cope with administrative stuff - residence permits, leases, landlords, local shopkeepers, etc. Even having a basic level will give you the advantage of "making a good effort" and that can buy you some serious good will with the locals.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi and welcome

If i was you i would look at Portugal as its seems to always get favourable reports ..

Language is easyish you can get by with hand motions and by adding a few letters after the qord ie;

Have you got any Newspapers , would be
"Havio youio gotio anyio Newpapersio "

Always gets me through with a bit of pointing as well
