Arrow Moving to France optimistic advise ONLY

I'm 47 a BS in Bus. Admin. background in same. Started and own my own small business since 2000. Enough of that this is not a resume. Even though I my plan is daring to ridiculous I plan to move from Colorado USA to France. I've seen alot of Can't Don't Won't Shouldn't. I've heard those things my whole life, about everything. Because it scares other people, I'm not that skiddish. I would like to converse with someone rather than just walk off a plane. If your an optimistic type B person with spirit and vision, I look forward to hearing from you. If your americanised into the failure system of beliefs please don't respond.

MY SINCERE APOLOGIES... Reality set in ....QUICKLY.......no amount of optimisim can account for legal accomodations. There are as I have since found, other countries that are interested in professional migrants, and many with much better benefits. I am focusing on places where my efforts are results orientated not just spinning my wheels. Thank you all for your advice, it has helped me direct my efforts

Welcome to the forum reio. Hope you get the info you want, but don't ignore the downsides of making such a move, you need a balanced view

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Been there, done that - and have survived the bad stuff as well as the good stuff. The big "positive" thing is that, with some perseverance it is normally possible to do just about anything in France once you overcome your American impatience.

Things (especially administrative stuff) take as long as they take in France. Learn to go with the flow and (as long as your French is up to day to day usage) there is always a way to wait things out or get what you want.

Oh, and one of the best sources for information about all that administrative stuff, check out SERVICE PUBLIC - Particuliers The section on foreigners is full of great information (stuff I wish I had known when I was going through it all!)
Cheers,
Bev

Good luck with your plans, and welcome to the forum.

I guess I tend to be a bit negative, because I'm always warning people that first they have to find out what the visa rules are and other such things. But I do think that if you know what the requirements and odds are, it gives you a better chance of succeeding in what you want to do. So try to look at the 'negative' things you see as 'to do' lists, when possible. Some things aren't. I can't, for instance, at my age, decide I want a working holiday visa for New Zealand. So I look for something else to do.

True Enough, I am not afraid of new unknown challenges, but those are turning out to be rather the easy part. The visa restrictions, pre move housing, pre move jobs .... things outside my control will certainly slow progress.
