Thumbs up G'day or Kia ora!

I am set to start a new job based in Abu Dhabi 19th may, coming from Aus (NZer).
I would love to hear from anyone about anything relating to the lifestyle in the Emirates.
I have been hearing alot about the re evaluation of the US Dollar and De pegging etc...
What effect this will have on the cost of an Expat living locally?.
Can anyone give examples of average cost of living for a single person
Chur!
Craig

hi, I am in Dubai. The dollar pegging thing hasn't happened yet and I can't see it happening for a while to be honest with you. Cost of living - depends on what sort of lifestyle you want. Rent is the killer here, then after that everything is pretty reasonable.

try www.gulfnews.com and check out their Property Section, honestly you won't get anything for 6000 a month.

Geordie is quite right. Rentals are frightening. I had two offers for Dubai end of last year and ended up turning them down as I could not get a proper accommodation allowance which would have meant using other monies to cover it, so the budget just did not work out.

Accommodation is always a big risk and must first attack is always to try and get the employer to pick up the tab and then he covers the risk for increases, etc. Otherwise you can find yourself up the proverbial "alley".
