Unhappy Locating to Luanda

Hi, my name is Cindy. My husband Doug and I are living in Baku Azerbaijan.

We're orignally from Louisiana and have been here in Baku for a year.
Now I've just found out that we're going to be transfered to Luanda Angola.

I'm disappointed because I've really just adapted here and now to find out that we're goin to move again. Especially to totally different weather and totally different cultures.

Is anyone familiar with Luanda and if so, can you share any information about living there? I am efimitely getting a nervous feeling right about now.

Thanks, Cindy

Welcome to the expat forum, cindy. I see you found the thread started by someone in Luanda. If you don't get a response, you could try sending a PM.

Hi Cindy,

Welcome to the forum. What unusual places to be living. What type of job sends you to these places?

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for writing. I only found this forum yesterday.

My husband works for an oil company. Actually, they build the parts for oil wells. I think..ha.

So, we've been living here in Baku and I learned that it's almost a definite that we're going to move to Launda.

I've been trying to find out what I can about the place and so far, it's nothing positve. We should know more by next week.

Thanks for inquiring. Are you an expat in Argentina?

Take care,
Cindy

Yes, originally from London. Where in Louisiana are you from? My youngest brother lives in New Orleans.

Wow, I'm about or I should say was, 3 hours away. Lafayette is the city which is about perhaps 2 hours from Baton Rouge.
How did you end up in Argentina?ha..

Thumbs up

My husband is originally from Buenos Aires, although he has lived the last 25 years in London. We wanted to move away from a big city and the Argentine Atlantic coast seemed exactly what we were looking for. It was the best thing we could have done.

I was just about to log off when I saw your message - aren't computers terrible.

What do you do in these strange places?

Logging off now and will catch-up tomorrow.
