Default Living in Portugal

Hi,

Just thought I'd introduce myself - I've been living in northern Portugal for quite a few years but am ex UK.

I've just found this forum so thought I'd give it a try.

Hi jsar.
I just moved to Portugal too. I am an au pair in Ponte de sor. What are you doing in Portugal and how long are you going to stay here.
Do you speak Portuguese? I donīt, and I am having some problems with that. But I am learning. Soon Iīll speak it perfectly, at least I hope so

Hi jsar!
I have also just moved in Portugal. I am here as an aupair in local family.
So do you like Portugal? Can you speak Portuguese? Coz I donīt and itīs quite hard to survive here whitout the language. At least in this small city, where most of the people donīt speak english. Luckily my family speaks very good english. But I love the weather here.
By the way, why are you in Portugal?

Hi Merian,

Where's Ponte de Sor? I haven't heard of it before. I hope you like your family and it's good they speak English of course.

I've been here since 1994 and will probably stay for the rest of my life! I love it here and can't imagine living anywhere else. I married a Portuguese lad a very long time ago and we moved here when my children were small - we both thought it was the best place to bring them up.

So, yes I do speak Portuguese, not fluently by any means but I'm quite conversant.

Why did you choose Portugal and where are you from? I think it takes years to become proficient in Portuguese, it's not the easiest of languages.

So I hope you enjoy your time here and get the most out of it. It's a wonderful country once you get over the culture shock.

Hi

Just like you I thought I would also give this website a try to! I have just moved to Lisboa form London with my Portuguese wife. I moved over in December & I am loving every minute of it but I am still finding my feet. Which part of the north are you living in?

Kind regards

Christopher Warman

Welcome all! I am an American preparing to relocate to Portugal within the next few years. I have recently returned from an extended stay in the Algarve and miss Portugal terribly already.
