Default Hello, Attorney in USA looking to move!

Hello everyone. I'm a recent law school grad. My wife, an elementary english teacher, and I are looking to expatriate. We don't necessarily know where to yet, but we are seriously considering Africa or the Middle East. Anyone with any info on how we could find a job, please let me know.

If you're a recent law school graduate, it might not be a bad idea to get a few years of experience under your belt before looking to expatriate. I'm a CPA/MBA and found that for overseas jobs, it's easier to sell your experience on the job than your academic credentials (which may or may not transfer or be completely understood overseas).

For Africa or the Middle East, you may want to look into getting some NGO experience, or think about working for international companies that have dealings with Africa and the Middle East (oil and energy companies, large construction or engineering companies). A few years stateside could lead fairly quickly to an overseas transfer - especially if you have a language or two that would come in handy (French, Arabic).

I met someone in my travels that was going straight out of law school to a job in London. At the time, three or four years ago, she had no trouble finding a job, as the firm recruited at her law school (Boalt, I think). She said that companies that do a lot of business in US hire US attorneys.
