Default Hello all! Moving from the States to Australia!

Hey fellow Expats! I am a 24 year old recent grad from Missouri looking to get out into the world. For about the last 2 years my girlfriend and I have discussed the possibility of moving and starting our lives together somewhere other than the States, and we finally decided now was the time to start doing some research and gathering information.

We're in the very first stages of learning about different cities and visa requirements, so if any of you seasoned expats have advice, please feel free to share! I'll see you all around the forums :-).

Christian

Hi Christian,

The Oz government websites are very good when it comes to visas. Some are regional visas so it really depends on where you want to move to. The visa requirements have changed since I applied for mine some years ago so you're better off going to the government websites such as www_immi_gov_au (I can't post links yet so replace _ with . !)

Regards,
Karen

Welcome to the forum! Kaz101 has some good advice, especially about checking the Australian consulate website for visa requirements. The US now has working holidaly visas (WHVs) for Australia and New Zealand, which might be easier than applying for immigration. People are admitted to these countries on a point system, and there is a test on the site which will tell you how many points you have, to see if you qualify to immigrate.

Thank you both for the replies! I've been checking out the internets and am finding some good info. Sadly finals have put research on a hold for a few weeks, but only one week left!!
