Question New in Paris

Hi everyone,

I am 26 yo, going to move to Paris in a few months. Does anyone know how difficult it is to find a job there without any knowledge of the French language? I work as a freelance article writer, but I would like to have a permanent job in any sector really (where French is not required ). How black and white is that?

Thank you in advance for your assitance.

Andrey

Hi and welcome to the forum.

To be honest, it's going to be very difficult finding a job in Paris unless you speak at least passable French - and have the working permit issue sorted out. (No problem if you're coming from another EU country. From anywhere else, it will be a problem.)

The other thing is that the French are really quite concerned about your formal qualifications. So it can depend a bit, too, on what it is you're qualified to do. Some qualifications transfer relatively easily, others don't. You may want to take a look at the EURES site for general information on working in France: EUROPA - EURES - the European Job Mobility Portal
Cheers,
Bev
