Erongacarlos is on a distinguished road
Default A short introduction

Hi Everyone,

I have been an expat much of my life. I was born in Austin, Texas, but grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and currently live in the mountains of western Mexico in Erongaricuaro, Michoacan, a small village that has long welcomed foreigners into its serene midst. I live with my husband of 32 years, and a young Mexican couple and their three-year-old kid, who are our adopted family. We live as a collective in a large house right on the village's beautiful plaza. We host art shows, dance and music performances, literary readings, discussion groups, and some fantastic parties in our home. We are bilingual and bicultural, as are nearly all of our friends. This village is home to a great many artists and writers, and quite a few foreigners, US Americans, South Americans, and Europeans. We welcome visits and have occasionally invited traveling artists to stay with us for longer periods of time while they do their art.

We have also started to build a new community of like-minded people on the ancient lava flow just to the south of the village. We are building eco-sensitive houses for our friends and comrades, all with glorious views of the volcanoes that hold the village in their embrace, as well as the village itself, and Lake Patzcuaro. We welcome inquiries on this topic, as well.

Carlos

Welcome to the expat forum! Your village sounds like a wonderful place. I've been to Patzcuaro, for Easter one year and I'm hoping to visit again next year.
