Hello all

I moved to Nicosia, Cyprus 5 months ago from the UK. I have some family here and have a good job in finance but Im still quite homesick.

It will be great to chat to other expats on this site and will give me hope to settle in here.

Hi, I live in Grece. I have a good job and pleanty of family but sometimes i feel realy homesick. The language is less a problem than culture. In the UK i knew how to get help if i neeeded it, here, i have to rely on my husband. I miss the indipendance.
I havent got it right yet, but any advice i can give you would be to accept help that is offered. When i first got here i did everything for myself. But i got it all wrong. Take help where you can.

We left London almost a year ago for exactly the same reasons as you - better quality of life, better weather, lovely beaches, friendly people and freedom for our children. Fortunately, none of us have felt homesick - in fact we don't even want to go back for at least another year.


Where are you originally from in the UK? I have a friend leaving the UK to live in Cyprus within the next few weeks. She was born there, but has spent most of her life in the UK?

I lived in Hertford, Herts, I didnt sell yet, my son lives there.

I appreciate being in Cyprus when Im told its raining in the UK.

I was living in the London Borough of Redbridge - near the end of the central line.

I hope you get over your homesickness - we sold up so that we knew there was no going back!
