Smile Hallo from Italy

Hallo, I'm an Italian girl, my name is Manuela and I live in Rome.
I don't know if it's the right place for me, but I adore everything that is English and I'd like to have new English (or American, of course!) friends to talk with. My English is not so good, I know, so sorry for my mistakes. I hope someone will answer me so...thanks a lot for this opportunity!
Manuela

Welcome to the forum Manuela. You sound like you speak English as well as most, and better than some.

I'm sure you'll find new friends here!

I'm sure I have a lot of mistakes here as well, Iam currently using my PC in the office, my concentration is divided, so pls bear with me on those mistakes,

otherwise I have just met someone who is a Proff in WV, USA, he's a wonderful person, he wants us to be more than friends, He came to facilitate a course for the company I work for, you know I just feel like packing my bags and stay nearer where he stays, but am I not too trusting? maybe when you are of age and single you get these kinds of paranoias ...drop me some comments, I'll appreciate

Every situation is different, of course, but I packed my bags and moved 6000 miles to be with the man who became my husband. Without knowing anything about either of you it's very difficult to advise. I suppose you could try getting a visa and staying in WV for 6 months, just to see what happens. That way you're not committed. I don't know what the situation is for getting a visa for the US though. Might not be that easy.

Welcome! A tourist visa would probably not be difficult, but being able to work would be. The easiest way to get a work visa is to be transferred by an international company. I've heard that getting a fiance visa isn't too difficult, though I don't think it gives you the right to work. Anyway, it's easier to get a fiance visa and then marry than to marry then try to get into the country. I'm jumping the gun here, but thought I should bring it up because I've met so many people who did it the other way around.

Thanx a lot Guys,

I will look at it both ways, I'm a qaulified Accountant, and studying towards MBA, even if I get to complete my studies there, work later, but it's easy for South Africans to get visas for Europe or USA, I visited USA but did not go to WV, perhaps a 3-6 mnths holiday will be worth taking there, rather than committing myself soon. But I must say that I think you have the most mannered , humble guys over there. yes SA man are nice but I have just met the sweetest person who puzzle me everyday.

I appreciate your contribution..

Uh-oh. Don't assume they'll all be like him. Ever seen American TV? They're definitely not all sweet and well mannered. Ask any American woman who's gotten divorced.

I agree with lilly, I've met some American guys when I had my PhD and they were all very kind and friendly. and, most of all, they tried to speak easily and slowly so that we all could understand, instead people from New Zealand, who had a terrible accent, spoke as they were at home.
As for the visa, a friend of mine as been in NY for a master degree at Columbia and it has been very easy to obtain it through her university, so I think it can be easy also for lilly to obtain it for studying.

It's definitely much easier if you come to the US to study. If you get a degree in the US, you get an automatic one-year work visa. The idea is that you should be allowed to accrue work experience in your field. Then you can look for a job that will sponsor you for a regular work visa, and eventually apply for a green card.
