Default Hello from South Africa

Hello to everyone,

I have just registered with this forum...
I grew up in cape Town, before spending 6 years living in the United Kingdom (mainly London) and have recently returned to live in South Africa - Johannesburg to be exact.

I am enjoying the experience and settling myself in well.
I have in fact put a blog together over the last 5 months or so, like a diary of my experiences here. Just Google "Living in Jozi" or visit my profile for the link.

I hope I might be able to assist others with my experiences....

Take care
Mike

Welcome to the forum! I lived in Welkom, of all places, back in the early 80's, which was a fascinating time to be in South Africa.

Ilived in Mexico for about a year. I have always wanted to go to South Africa to live. I have been to Kenya on safari. How does one get to stay longer than on a tourist visa. I am American and how is the reception for Americans there? Is it difficult to make friends? I am fairly outgoing. What about housing? Is it difficult to find apartments or houses to rent? I need to know a lot more a the area I want to live. Thank you
