Default Brit stranded in cambodia

This sounds horrendous! Poor man, and poor you!
The only thing I can think of is using the family back in britain to embarrass the sods who have cut him off. Get them to go to the papers, maybe suggest that the man may have to pretend to be a terrorist to be deported!
That should at least make headlines and maybe get someone to take notice.
Find out from the family which papers they are going to and fax them (the newspapers) any corroborating evidence so they dont just brush it off.
Having dealt with red tape, I suggest you go round it rather than through it.
Maybe the family could get a statement from his doctor to confirm the urgency.

Or call his MP. Or the press.
DEPRESSION ?

Even the "" ËXPERTS " do not truly understand the depth of deep depression , simply put , it is a chasm of slimy mud in which one finds it almost impossible to claw a way out of , it sucks you down like quicksand until the will to live practically dies in what remains of your concious mind , you fight to find anything that will help you escape the hood of complete oblivion , or just QUIT , what then is a life without the love or caring of just one other human being ? ? Kevins medical records clearly point to this possible regressive state , that is why he is/was on extended medical benifits , i am afraid if i "Hit " on the caring person who cut his life-line i would be tempted to do just that .
Why then do governments employ people who " Just do thier job "without compassion ? I have read all the PDF's and could not find a clause whereby an extended recipient could not go on vacation or that he/she could be told how to best spend the monies to suit thier particular situation , but then , who am i to query the intracasies of local ministries ?
Thank you all for your concern , at least it is helping to keeep my mind focused . colin

Ok I guess we have to assume there is noone from his family to help.
Or willing to. Do you personally (or anyone in the UK reading this) know someone with ties to the press or simply someone willing to contact them on your behalf? Wish the poor bloke had come from Oz & I'd do my best over here. Come on everyone we have to think of something

Just thought - is there anyone in the UK who could impersonate your friend and pretend to have returned? Then he'd get his pension reinstated & could get back. mmmm maybe not. Although there would be an uproar if someone tried to arrest the impersonator. Sounds like a job for a cheeky expat Aussie -cmon fellas step up to the plate

Not sure what efforts , if any , his family have made , but i have just finished writing a detailed letter to one of his home town newspapers about this disgraceful affair . "If i were a million-aire , would you take my ticket , would you go home anyway , to the place that you belong ". "If i were a millionaire , i would fly to England , i would strangle them anyway , just to set an example , to the powers that be ". Some producer out there to air my update of an old song on TV ? . Colin.

If you really can't find anything that says he can't leave the country, it sounds as if somebody just canceled the pension out of spite or because in their opinion he shouldn't have been allowed to go away. I wonder who reported him. What sort of country do you live in where people spy on their neighbors and report petty things like this?

Attorneys? Or advocacy groups that have attorneys? Someone to formally look at whether the pension should have been suspended in the first place?

I have not personaly lived in England for many years now , we were not like this in my days as a young man , he had a masionette subsidised by the local government and some-one noticed he was not there and reported it , they took the masionette away followed by his benifits. He can get money when he arrives back in England or his daughter can support him until he does , but I am more concerned at this time with his state of mind and how to get him there , one hurdle at a time .At the time of writing , not one response has come back to say they will or will not help him , I did however succeed in locating a local newspaper , so wrote them an account of the proceedings to date and asked them to investigate the situation , should recieve an answer hopefully tomorrow evening . Advocasy groups , will plough through the old computer and see what i can come up with , did not notice anything like that in his area when i was searching , my goodness , there is so much to wade through before you find anything or any-one to communicate with , i have spent so many hours doing this my eyes are hanging out of my head . I am a long way from being a computer wizz and my 2 finger typing leaves a lot to be desired , keeps the ole' stiffness away though LOL . Thanks again to every-one on this mission , you are a terrific help and consoling group to me , it is nice to know at least there are some humanitarians in this world .Colin
