Does travel expand the mind or make people more insular thinking?

I've heard arguments for and against; I'm of the opinion that it expands the mind but only if you learn about the culture of the country you're visiting/living in.

It certainly does...and more than the mind.....tastes...variety, understanding and acceptance of other cultures....opens your eyes often to how fortunate you actually are, and often upsetting............but thats life !
