You've no doubt seen it here a dozen times already, but if you're planning on finding jobs in the US, you really pretty much need to have a university degree at a bare minimum. Anything less than that and it's unlikely you can get an employer to sponsor you, which is only the first step toward getting a visa.

If you are thinking of an investment type visa, remember that you will need to establish a business that will provide a living for more than just you and your family. And if the business goes sour, your right to stay in the US does, too.

Plan a family vacation in Florida and while you're there, do some research into the types of jobs available in the area you're considering. Read the local papers and try to get some feel for working conditions, salary levels and the unemployment rates, also the state of the schools and other factors of living there. I know lots of folks are looking to escape what they don't like about the UK, but make sure you know what you're running to. It could change your mind - or give you some other ideas about where and how to move.
Cheers,
Bev
