Default Getting Social Security abroad

Ive been told that I can have my monthly social security payment deposited in a foreign bank account. Has anybody done this? Was it difficult to set up? How well did it work?

We didn't bother to try, because we wanted to keep a US bank account anyway. The only reason I could see to do that is if it's a requirement for a retirement visa. I think when some countries say that you must have an income of x dollars per month from a pension or annuity, they mean that you must have at least that much deposited in a local account every month.

That's true, because they want you to boost their own economy. That's why they are so open to retirees, because it brings money into the economy.

I think your money is safer in your own country and there are less questions from the government , the more you keep consistant , the fewer the qestions asked . What was that about dual taxes ? Think of the 3 monkies !!!!
