Just as I thought, I shouldnt think that I would have a problem. As I said previously, I have heard of instances of british citizens being admitted into the UK without a passport and only a photo driving license as a form of identification. Obviously this may take a little longer as border control will have to check records to confirm that I am a genuine british citizen and not someone trying to gain illegal entry. I suppose its all in the name of national security so I cant complain if I do get stopped but I thought I would check before I get there to avoid nasty surprises. I am not really bothered if I have to wait a few hours, just as long as they can see that I am a genuine british citizen and am allowed to enter.

So this friday..... England, here I come!!!

Thanks for the advice.
Scott

I think in the light of terrorism, expired passports might cause problems. Saying that, my brother managed a couple of years ago to enter and leave the UK on an expired British passport. On his return to Vienna, customs in the UK contacted customs in Vienna stating that he would be returning and did not have enough time to renew his passport. On entry to Austria, he was thoroughly questioned and once they saw he spoke German with an Austrian accent, they allowed him in.

Check online the passport office in London and see if you can find the answer there or even e-mail them.

Regards

Michelle
