Default I have fallen in love with a muslim...

Hi Guys,
Sorry I have not posted for some time...... but...... I have fallen in love with a muslim!
I was not looking to be struck by Cupids bow, but struck I was and struck I remain, even though our cultural differences are wider then I could have imagined. I first met my Ishmeeah at a fundraising event I was attending on behalf of the "Fresh Water For Everyone" campaign in Bradford. Our eyes met across a crowded room in what can only be described as an explosion of interest, not the kind of explosion some people associate with certain militant muslims..... but the kind of explosion one feels when they stumble across a thing of beauty that does nothing more than take their breath away.
Her family are dead against our relationship as they believe our cultures and ideology are incompatible....hence.... unsuitable. Even though my family are more open and lenient to the idea (probably due to having a Scot in the family) I just can't get her father to come round to it.
I have tried everything I can think of, I have offered to take him down the pub, and last week even offered to take him to watch the Chelsea v Totenham game which he declined due to religious obligations.
I am planning a surprise weekend away to a rock festival for Ishmeeah and myself in a couple of weeks. Ismeehah has never been to a rock festival and in all honesty I would be surprised if she knew what heavy metal music was, but I think she will enjoy it and it will do her good to let her hair down.
I am desperate to take her there but feel her father and brothers will definitely refuse to let her go with me.

Has anybody got any ideas on how I should approach them and ask their permission?

How curious that her parents choose to live in a country where they believe "cultures and ideology are incompatible" with theirs. Save yourself and Ishmeeah a lot of grief and go and find someone else.

Ricardo you're in Bradford now?
What happened to all the women on your island?
Is your island near Bradford?

By the way for any newbies here, Ricardo Blue is something of a wind up merchant Everything he says should be taken not just with a pinch of salt but with an entire sack full of salt!

Regards,
Karen

Now you've spoilt it :-) All the signals were in his post. Shades of Derridian deconstruction.

Thanks for your support guys.....indeed love is a strange and curious thing!
Anyway.. it's all over between me and Ishmeeah beneath that mysterious cloak of mystery lay something that even Ricardo Blue was not ready for!
I probably should have known by the size of her hands..like shovels they were even her size 13 basketball boots were a dead give away thinking about it now!
This just goes to prove that all that glistens is not gold..... Bradford is not the place to holiday...... and Burkas are very much a conundrum

You're surprised that the father (and the rest of the family) are reluctant? Im not. When you bring an "old fashioned" patriarch to pubs, soccer games and bringing his daughter to a rock concert, you shouldn't be surprised why he stays firm with the protest.

Why dont you show the family a more "respectable" side in you? Go to your local charity orgs, take out their nephews to the park or something
