Most people usually hate one or the other. I hate snakes. I can deal with insects, but the way snakes move gives me the creeps.

Actually, I think the choice is either spiders or snakes. I hate spiders. I hardly ever see snakes, but I see spiders, I get bitten by spiders, and I think the way all those legs move is creepy.

As one would expect of any creature that spends its life stoned out of its mind.

In the first Indiana Jones movie, they actually hired an actress who was terrified of snakes to do that scene in the pit (the one I watched through my fingers). I've often wondered, if I had signed a contract, if I were being paid a lot of money, and if it would be career suicide to back out, would I have been able to do that scene. The answer: no. It would take millions. Tens of millions.

I spent 35 years being terrified of spiders after a huntsman(think scrawny tarantula) jumped on my face when I was a child. Got the shudders being in a room with one- knew they are harmless but couldnt deal with them.
A couple of months ago we were at a local do (small stone hall in middle of scrub, bonfire, locals playing rock&roll ), put my stubbie down on the ground for a minute. Took another swig, and felt something in my mouth. Yes, you guessed it. Tried to spit the bugger out but it was hanging on. To cut the story short, I eventually spat it out, threw up and promptly fainted much to the sympathy and amusement of all. Amazing thing is, now they dont bother me at all. The worst has happened! Nothing could be worse than that. So avoid years of debilitating terror and just eat one. Or drink out of a glass so they dont hide in the neck of your stubbie
