Default Expat salary in India

Can anybody give me an idea about the salary in the textile industry (merchandiser / planner / etc etc) in Asia (I am interested in India...)? Over 7 years experience, 4 in this company.

Are you expecting a transfer with the company you are with now? Or to be recruited from India? If you are planning to go to India to look for work, you won't get an expat package, and may not get much more than a standard Indian salary. If there are a lot of Indian nationals that can fill the position, you may not be able to get a work permit.

I will be with the Uk company and, believe me, nobody (even Romanian) would work for an Indian salary! :-)

I've been looking for an ex-pat contract in the Middle East. It seems that people who get transferred don't have much control over their salary, but they can negotiate benefits and perks. If you have children, you definitely want international school tuition. Look at housing upgrades or subsidies, cars, trips home.

Sign for it for an year, it is an OK start salary, I think. Re-negociate after 6 months if possible, as you may not like it...
