It would help to know why you want to move abroad. Also, your nationality affects the options you have available to you. If you all have EU passports, then you can go anywhere in Europe. If you are coming from America or Canada or any other non-EU country, your ability to relocate to Spain may be limited.

While you may be happy as long as there are a lot of English speaking people around, your children are going to have to attend Spanish schools, make Spanish friends, etc. if you move to Spain. You will have to do all those school parent things, so learning the language is going to be important for you.

I understand that and as im not planning on going until early next year i plan to get Spanish lessons for all of us , but i was lead to belive that it would be best to put the kids into an International school to begin with so that the language barrier is not a major problem. I just have to find a suitable school.

International schools are usually very expensive, if that is an issue for you. Sometimes they are only available in or near big cities, where there are lots of companies that transfer employees in and out, and pay for the schools. Finding out where there are international schools might help you narrow your choices.

Have you been to the Costa Blanca? Did you like it? Did you like the way of life? If so, then maybe. Go back for a longer period of time, live as you would if you lived there... ie do every day things, don't do touristy holiday things. Have a look around see what else there is in the region. Work out if the cost of living is OK & you can afford to live, then see if you still like the Costa Brava.

Have you been anywhere else you like? Do you like any another countries? If your husband works away a lot then could you go to wherever he works? Living on your own (even with children) in a strange country, where you are not fluent in the language, with a different culture, without the comfort of people you know, will be very difficult. Just because there are lots of English speaking people, doesn't mean they will be able to give you the same support as you would get at home with friends and family in the UK. Ex-pat communities are generally very friendly but they have their own lives to live.

Choosing where to emigrate to somewhere because someone said it is a good place to go is not a sound basis for emigration.
