Default Putting mother in a home

Hi everybody...

I have been thinking for some time now about putting my mother in-law in a home or some kind of woman's hostel. My wife is against the idea (so to her mother) but I personally think it would be for the best.

My mother in-law has been living with us since her husband was killed whilst trying to rescue a family from a burning building. She is in reasonable good condition for someone who is approaching almost 60, and can still do chores around the house to a satisfactory standard. I just think it would be better off for all concerned if she was in a home with people of her own kind!

Another factor for her leaving is the fact that I now have to park my car on the driveway to accommodate her camp bed in the garage. My wife would like me to turn the games room into a permanent bedroom for her, but then where would myself and the guys play cards?

Now I'm sure there has been many ex-pats in the same predicament.... so if anybody can offer some advice, or indeed suggest a reasonably priced home or hostel (around 200 euros a month) I would be extremely grateful.

Kind regards,

Ricardo Blue

Island , now there's a thought , take her to the next town/city , drop her off on a traffic island with a shopping cart , oh , and throw in a few old clothes to make her look authentic . Colin

i worked in homes for years, and i feel that it would be wrong to carry out your idea. you and the guys can find another place to play cards and the car will be fine. if she is in good health and can carry her on weight just keep her busy with chores and she will be fine. you don't want to be in a home trust me.
