Anyone out there have any experience of the healthcare system in Spain? Any tips, do's or don'ts? Alicante is the nearest city to me. Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

I'm located in France, so don't have much info on the Spanish health care system. I can tell you, though, that you're doing exactly the right thing, finding out before you need health care. It's not too great to be working out the system while you're feeling poorly.

Try contacting the US consulate in Spain to see if they have a list of English speaking doctors in the Alicante area. Even if your Spanish is good, you may prefer speaking English when you're feeling poorly.
