Default and you moved because?

Why did you immigrate? I moved to the US from South Africa after meeting my husband online. That was eight years ago. Amazing how much water has flowed under the bridge since then...

I was offered a transfer. I figured that if something just fell into my lap like that, I should take advantage of it. Usually you have to work really hard to get a chance like that.

I had the choice between 3 countries to go to, however chose the UK as lots of my friends have also moved here. It makes me wonder if I had chosen any of the others - South Africa and New Zealand, where I would be now and what I would be doing!

It was retirement time, and we had the requisite EU passports, and we liked Spain, and...here we are.

The main reasons why we moved to Cyprus was:

- Climate and health,
- Cost of living and tax level and
- Culture and commutation

Cyprus has the best climate and the best and cleanest beaches in the Europe with:
- Superb climate, averaging 340 days of sunshine a year
- The highest temperature wintertime the Mediterranean
- The best and cleanest beaches in Europe

The cost of living in Cyprus (and Spain) is approximate 50% of the cost of living in Norway.
- The tax level in Cyprus is the third best in the world – after The Emirates and Hong Kong.
- Foreign pension is taxed at 5 percent. An annual exemption of £2.000 is granted.

Culture
- The Cypriot are friendly, hospitable honest and trustworthy people
- You have all reasons to feel safe in Cyprus – both young and old
- The crime in Cyprus is the lowest in Europe (1/6 of the average in EU)
- Cyprus is a traditional and peaceful Mediterranean island.
- Visitors are always pleasantly surprised by the serene life on the island
- Health, environment and security means a lot for all who travel abroad.
- If you need doctor or have to go to the hospital, you can be sure of getting help when you need it.

Communication
- Though Greek is the official language, over 90% of locals speak English making your transition to the Cypriot way of life immeasurably easier.

Best regards
