Default Resident visa for non-resident

Hi all,

Is there any country (preferably in Europe) that issues the resident permit without you being obliged to spend X days/year there?

My work takes me to many places, but I need a place to call home. I do not intend to look for a job on such country and a economic citizenship can be considered.

Can you help me?

Thanks

In most of Europe (AFAIK) if you are "resident" in the country, then you are considered to be working there no matter where your job takes you. (Which means you get taxed in that country - and pay social insurances, which are difficult to take advantage of if you're not around much.)

Is there some reason that calling Brazil home doesn't work for you? (I'm assuming that's where you have your nationality.)
Cheers,
Bev

Bev,

Brazil is a wonderful country if you are an expat and stay away from Rio de Janeiro. There are some beautiful places, nice people, litle violence, very affordable cost of living. But for Brazilians, the reality is very different. To go back means high taxation, lousy salaries and, of course, endure the way the country choose, its politicians, corruption, etc.
It is something I can not change, so I prefer to leave, pretty much as many South Africans did.

Cheers,

Gentarik
