Well, definitely don't come to France, if you don't want to learn a language. I want to learn it but am still finding it very hard to say all but the most simple things, even after being here a substantial amount of time.

Have you considered Germany? Rents are cheap, it's very safe and you can generally get by just speaking English. I'd recommend one of the northern cities, such as Hamburg, Hannover or Koln, for being somewhat multicultural and good with english.

Rich

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We need some more information about you, especially as to which country you are thinking of relocating to.

Regards

Michelle

What sort of financial work were you thinking of? If you have a qualification in finance, I think you'll find it rare to find jobs with accommodation. What is your background (qualifications) and do you have any languages? That's usually the best way to plan an overseas job hunt.
Cheers,
Bev

I don't think Brian, aged 21, is ready for retirement yet, although he might like the idea

Ah but retirement is just doing what you want to do when you want to do it - so he may be ready for it but affording it may be another issue entirely

(SNIP) I have a large group of friends here, whom are in all types of employment and we are into many different sporting activities, such as rugby, football, cricket, diving & off road motorcycling I can highly recommend this City.
The expat community is tighter here, the city is much less crowded than manila and there is more of what you would expect in terms of Pacific Island living going on in this part of the Philippines. All that being said, Cebu is becoming a prosperous and sophisticated Industrial / Commercial city as well. You might find that it is the right recipe for the your planned trip abroad.

Default South Africa is the Country for You

Brian , come down South !!!!

Weather is great , bit wet in winter, but scorching for the rest. Plenty of adventure
lots of sports, cycling, hiking, running, lots of mod con's , fast'ish internet broadband, tarred roads, lots of clubs, wild life, adventures, cheap clothes ..in in fact everything is cheap when you have Pounds.

Even sex is safe here according to our health minister ..if you contract aids some beetroot, vitamins garlic and and a shower will sort that out..

Water is relatively safe when piped in, no-one hates the whites here that would be racist and since they abolished apartheid there hasn't been any of that .

Very safe behind the electronic gates, burglar bars, armed response, pepper spray etc in fact that is all terribly overdone according to many experts on this forum.

A more beautiful country you will not find. Stunning beaches, warm water to swim and surf in, loads of wine farms and local girls who also like Brit pounds.

Can't go wrong ..ignore what the locals say they obviously don't know what's going on. Bunch of whiners anyway. You will be welcomed with open arms - very friendly people here

Yeah, I am thinking about Cyprus too but am a little put off by its small size and its distance from anywhere else, somewhat limited I suspect. Dare I suggest Antwerp in Belgium, cheap rents, most speak English (Flemish is hard!) and lots of amusing nightlife if you are 21.

Not many people come back to the U.K. having visited Australia, New Zealand or Canada.
