Hi Merkoz1,

Did you consider the Canary Isles. I recently set up a company on Fuerteventura. Spanish taxes can be a bit daunting, but if you work online and your business income does not rely on the local community, you would be in a minority there.

Broadband (ADSL) is good there, and there's a huge surplus of long term rental accommodation at reasonable prices (€450 per month one bed apartment with electric and water and community fees paid, €600 per month for 2 or 3 bed villa inclusive of bills).

Many expats there with not much to do if they rely on local economy, so local labour can be obtained at low rates. Fuerte is quite windy, more so than the other islands, but you can't beat it for pleasant weather, some great beaches and a laid back lifestyle.

If I can put my pennies worth in. I would opt for Singapore. The safest an friendliest place I have worked in. If you eat local you can live extremely cheaply. Accommodation can be a bit pricey depends on where you stay. And the electronic bargains in KL is only a short drive away. Residency may be a problem, depending on what you do.

The problem with Singapore is getting a residence permit of some sort. Check the Singapore forum for some discussions about that. From what I've read there, you have to get a student visa, a job with a company that will sponsor you, or start a business that will employ local people. You can't do the visa run thing for several reasons. First, you can't rent an apartment without appropriate documentation. Second, if you leave for only a few days, you will get a two week visa on your return, not a 90 day visa. If you try it again, you probably won't be allowed in.
