I would still definitely recommend the Baja peninsula of Mexico. Not only is it cheap and much like other beachy resort areas, it is close if you are from the states or canada to family and friends.

Isnt it strange that the original poster has not made another post since their first one almost 2 years ago yet everyone still continues to answer the question

Veronica, how many of us on this forum have asked ourselves the same question?! We want to move, we want a good standard of living and we're not rich - sure, it's a great thread! :-)

It certainly is but I wonder whether the original poster had any idea that what they started would go on for so long

Somebody in another thread recommended Suriname, but I can't seem to find any information on it in terms of expense, and Internet connectivity. The hotels I've been able to find online are quite expensive when compared to some of these other recommendations.

Also, I know there are services in Thailand to help future expats get things lined up before they get there, things like renting an apartment, and working out essentials. Are there services like this in these other countries? How does one find them?

Thanks.

Don't know about jobs, but we had great high speed internet access in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, and Peru.

How would you define good weather? I find that Germans think weather that is at all humid or a little too cool for shorts or warm enough to cause any perspiration is not good weather. I am from warm sunny southern California where it is not green but the weather is GREAT! Germans would hate the summers, generally speaking.

You could move onto a nice sailboat with a satellite internet and just sail to the weather you like and surf the net with delight.

Kenny,
Interesting perspective on weather. I really too think it is all relative as far as personalities are concerned... especially depending on where a person grew up is originally used to.

Korea's internet access to the rest of the world is quite poor though, possibly with the exception of access to the US/Canada (I don't know). It has the problem the OP mentioned that access to Europe is via the US, and few Korean consumers are bothered enough about international access to complain to their ISP. Better than it was a few years ago though.
