Default UK Pensions Abroad,

UK Pensions Abroad,
If you are retiring abroad, you can continue to receive your UK state pension.
If you are moving permanently, you will only get yearly increases in your pension if you are in an European Economic Area (EEA) country or one of the other countries that have a special agreement with the UK. You will also need to match the relevant regulations.

If you are living in the UK and are not planning to live in another EEA country for some time, you will need application form BR19 from your local Jobcentre Plus office or social security office.

If you are moving to another EEA country or anywhere else in the world you will need to inform The UK Pensions Service that you are moving abroad and give them your new address (contact details are below).
Building up a state pension abroad in the EEA
state pension age and entitlements vary from country to country If you want to know about your own pension rights in another country in the EEA, you need to ask the department or unit responsible for pensions and benefits in that country. Check the government website for the country where you are moving to or are living in.

The state pension age and entitlements may vary depending on which country you are going to live in.

Only when you are in an inextricable situation will you realize it is too late to read the guidelines , ignorance of law is not taken into account or physical frailties considered , what that comes down to in Asia as an outsider is , Żou are F@$#^@ hung on a cross , please do not spout laws or edicts to average citizens who trust thier governments , the written word is indetermenent ( my word ) , please read "Stranded in Cambodia "to find out what i mean , should you be such an expert on pension law , where is your rendition of what to do ? No body gives a damn any more , 9-5 go home , friday collect pay, pay bills , get pissed , not neccesarily in that order , so ,what was your point ?

Hey, oddball, calm down a little. Just because you are having a bad experience doesn't mean the information isn't valid for other people. Note the part about informing the government if you are leaving. That was what started the whole mess, so th4s is giving some good advice.

You can't anticipate all the odd things that can go wrong. If you try to do that you will never do anything. It does help to know what the rules are, so that you can avoid triggering problems. For instance, if you have to notify an agency that you are leaving the country, and you do so, they are hopefully less likely to, say, curtail your pension. You can't just say that sometimes things get messed up so I don't even have to try to follow the rules.

You didn't say what? I'm just pointing out that even though rules might not be consistently applied, you have to know what they are and try to comply, then work with what happens when it happens. You are right that you need to be aware that things don't work.
