Default Rehoming elderly back in the UK

We have been living in France for 8 years and my Mother who is now 84 has been here for 4 years. She is now becoming more frail and feeble, is disabeled and has a serious heart condition.

I am wondering what arrangemens can be made to place her in a home back in the UK. Whilst I would love her to remain in France, because of the Language barrier she would experience, I would prefer her to be back in the UK where she could communicate. We would return to the Uk for long periods to spend time with her on a regular basis.

Has anyone any experience of this. She has no assets so we are looking at supported placements rather than privately funded. Any advice would be appreciated on who to contact etc.

I'm not an expert on the benefits system in the UK, but I suspect that your options depend quite a bit upon what her entitlements are in the UK. Does she receive any sort of pension from the UK? If she returns, is she covered under NHS for health care benefits as a pensioner?

You probably need to start by consulting the UK benefits agency to see what her status will be on her return and go from there.
Cheers,
Bev

Hi Bev
Yes she gets a full pnsion and reciprocal medical care@ 100% for most of her ailments. I will contact the beneits people. It is not a case of now but when as I know she would not last long in the isolation of the language.

Thanks

Mike
