Default Am I a Racist?

I really hope not but some of my own views and feelings have me doubting myself in ways I thought I never would. This doesn't effect me so much any more but my mother lives on her own in Greater Manchester in an area that is heavily populated by Asian Muslims. Whenever I visit her some of these feelings start stirring up and they worry me.

My biggest problem with certain groups of Asian Muslims is there seemingly unwillingless to integrate into British culture. The older generation (50+) - I think the majority of them can't string together a sentence in English. This then effects them getting jobs and providing economic value to Britain. This means that these folks are subsidised via our extremely generous benefits system of which I pay a massive chunk of my earnings into every month. Then I hear these people complain about living in Britain. Saying the weathers too cold, the beenfits are poor, the opportunities are crap, the country is racist etc etc. Then I see the children of this generation feel that they have more in common with the plight of plaestinians and iraqis than they do to the country of their nationality. I see documentaries of them conspiring in mosques to create carnage, mayhem and murder in my country.

It's not my Country any more. It has been over run by parasites masquerading as oppressed asylum seekers and worse.

For these reasons I want to take myself and my family out of here. Are these views racist? Do I have a problem?

I have to agree on your strong views about some of the people living in the UK.
I think its just the English cultural view on things, The english are and always will be proud of their country.. Ive never met an english person who doesn't like to stand up for the country and express their views on racial things and preferences.
Don't get me wrong some people who move from other countries for money reasons, are very friendly people, but i don't think they have the right to treat us badly and abuse our country!

Thanks for your quick reply Skillage.
There is a term I am hearing a lot called "White Flight". This is people like me being forced to move away to different areas and countries.

I think people that move here for financial reasons are all together different though. I have friends that are Indian, African and West Indian. Their parents came to the UK to really build a better life. Hard working in business, in the NHS, Civil Service etc. Tax payers throughout their lives and model British citizens really. It is all about adding value where ever you live. Adding value to your Country and your Neighbours. It is not about hiding behind veils, language and culture.

I just don't understand the British Asian Muslim mentality. I know I'm generalising now - but I am only recording my own personal experience. Tell me I'm wrong and tell me I'm racist if you want because I honestly don't know now...

You may ask the question if you're racist, but isn't everyone a little bit racist!
Most Indians around my area treat us like crap! I feel they don't have the right to do that because 'its not their country'. Im even sounding racist now, but why do they have the right to be so rude to us. Don't get me wrong, we shouldnt be able to treat any other race differently, but for them to treat us badly then in return we get called Racist.. I think its ridiculous.
Have you ever experienced this?

I think your views are mirrored in many many British peoples minds - mine included I have to say.

I was going to say that I hated the feeling of being a foreigner in my own country........BUT.........I am the foreigner now in Australia so I dont suppose I can complain too much can I?!!

Thanks for the message Travisboy.
I know I'm also going to be a foreigner in another country one day. But when I do so, I will try and integrate with the locals, the culture, the language etc.

Easier said than done! You may well be swallowing those words when you do finally live in another country.

We try very hard to integrate with the Aussies (and its not easy - even though they are friendly) but the majority of my mates are other British Expats.

Sounds totally hypocritical to me! You want to be an immigrant yourself.......and yet you slag those off who already are??!!

Talk about double standards!
