You know what, I don't think you are a racist. What you might find even more surprising is that I and many of my more liberal friends and family would totally agree with your analogy.

Just to confirm my views on your alleged racism, may i ask your views on the following groups of immigrants;

1. Jamaican Nurses who helped build the NHS
2. Asian Business People who started out on corner shops and now contribute vast amounts of money to society

There are a lot more examples of immigrants having a positive impact on society and I think these people - who are the majority - should not be overlooked in this type of debate.

Thanks

Shahid,

Thanks for your kind words and if there is anything that I have written that has offended you, I apologies.... that was not my intention!!!

My wife, as a staff nurse with the NHS for many years has worked and befriended many people of many nationality including both West Indian and Asian alike. There is no debate to whether these people have contributed to society and helped build the back bone to what is the greatest public health service in the world. (Hats off) But the key word there is helped CONTRIBUTE!!!

I myself who has worked within the IT and telecoms sector for many years supporting and developing new business's (many of which were Asian) realise the financial contribution to our economy they make and the serious hard work they have had to do to achieve what they've achieved.

Now I do not want to tar every immigrant with the same brush, nor would it be right for me to do so...But there is a new breed of immigrant that has hit our shores from the ones you mention above. One that does not sit well with me, one that would never contribute anything (even if they could), one who believes in their own self-importance and worth (delusional) One that feels they have the right to demand change where in truth they have no rights. And ones who threaten everything we (including the groups mentioned above) have worked for.

Do I want to see my country go down the swanny? Because it will be if we let it become a dumping ground for everybody with a hard luck story!!!
Who's going to support these people anyway? Where are they going to find affordable housing? Who's job will they take? Who will stop them producing children that they can't afford to support? Etc etc...

You answer these questions for me Shahid if you can because I have no idea
What the answer is!!!

Ricardo,

There should be no guilt here as you offered in your previous posts. However there is a big problem that has been created by previous foreign policies that does need to be addressed. Britain has nothing to answer to anymore but problems to address such as integration. We have all come to accept we live in a multicultural society. My best mate here is Asian and I always go over to his house, but how many English people invited Asians over when they first came? I think most of them got ignored and used and this problem has stemmed from this.

I think it is a strange viewpoint to see on an expats forum.

After all I live in Spain as an expat and I am a foreigner here. I try to fit in, but there are plenty of Brits here that try to change things to the english way. Brit shops everywhere, in the main coastal towns you could be in England in some areas

In whichever country you live in you will find groups of expats / immigrants living and "taking over" their own areas (just like in the UK) and many not attempting to assimilate local culture ... human nature I guess

Talk about double standards!
I believe he said he would try to integrate , as an ausie you are really giving him a choice ? Why not a few pointers , like , what upsets you about immigrants just as he has pointed out to you about immigrants to England , by getting on your high horse you merely exaserbate an already existant problem , in my opinion the man was only trying to explain why he wanted to come to Australia , which is not really a problemn , just a state of mind .
