Default Can Brits adapt to life in Cyprus after South Africa?

Hi,my family and I are from the UK but currently live in South Africa which we love apart from the crime which unfortunately is something we think about daily.
We are seriously thinking about moving to Cyprus as we hope to have the same climate, laid back people, slow pace of life and relative safety.
My husband will be on contract work here in Africa so for most of the time I will be on my own with the children, girls aged 10 and 7.
Any suggestions on which area would mostly suit a relaxed, outdoor, nature loving family away from busy clubs but with child friendly bars and cafes.
Schools are not an issue as I will homeschool unless anyone knows of a Steiner school in Cyprus?

Also are there any estate agents who deal in country rentals, older farm style properties away from the tourist zones!

Alot of questions I know but we wont have an opportunity to visit Cyprus before moving so am desperate for any feedback!

One other query, does anyone have experience of taking dogs into Cyprus from South Africa(other than financially crippling ones!!)

Hi there, i am from Bulgaria, but i think Cyprus is quite nice place to live. I recommend the Greek part of the island, as it is in EU. You can check my country too

If you like the lifestyle in SA you will certainly be happier in cyprus than you would be if you returned to the UK.
I dont know of any Steiner schools in Cyprus but you will find some good threads on schooling. Kimonas a regular contributor to the Cyprus section works in the education sector and has some good knowledge of the school systems here.

regards Veronica

I agree,we would never consider going back to the UK!
Can you recommend a region that is not too touristy?I will look into schooling some more to keep our options open.

Thanks

All areas have their touristy parts but if you get into the villages on the outskirts of the towns you will find lovely traditional areas.
In the paphos district it is touristy along the sea front area but there are also some very quiet areas.
The same goes for Limassol and Larnaca areas.
