Cool Generic discussion, bonding, and miscellaneous mirth-making

I'm terrible about pulling topics off course because I've gotten hung up on getting to know someone. So I thought maybe we should have a place to talk about anything, everything, and nothing in particular.

Information, advice, and the sharing of knowledge is what we're here for, and that's all wonderful. But it might be nice to just chat too.

Soooo - I'm Lily from Seattle. I live in Hastings UK with my English hubby, a strange cross between IT consultant and singer/songwriter. I actually moderate on a forum specifically music-related as well as this one, and belong to several other forums. Yeah, I like to make friends.

Who else is up for just generic discussion?

Ah, Michelle. Why did I know you'd be the first to respond? I must have sensed a kindred spirit. lol

Quick! Laugh at my comment, and that brings you to 20 so you can give Synthia that link in the other thread!

Woohoo Michelle!

The 20-post rule is actually a very good thing. It helps cut down on spammers. I wouldn't normally encourage someone to do one post just for the point of being able to post a link, but your previous 19 posts were legitimate questions and helpful responses.

Anyway, Synthia will appreciate the link. She's got so many answers for other people, it's nice once in a while to see her get a good response for herself.

Well Shimmy. My Himself has his own little brand of gadgets. He's in IT, but his passion is songwriting. So (for instance) he just bought a new toy that I call his "thing-wot-makes-the-guitar-sound-cool." I know, I'm sorry to get all technical 'n all, but that's what I call it. It has knobs and buttons and lights and when he's experimenting with it, all I hear is squeaks and squawks.

He's got all his little songwritey friends into this new gadget, so now they've all gone out and bought one too. So we go to open mic nights and they all sit there yelling at each other "is that number 4 or 5 you're using?"

Yeah. I could use some of your Himself's beer right about then.

Hey Tricia, so what do you think of it all so far? Personally, I really love sitting online and talking to people all over the world. Back when I lived in Seattle I thought it was amazing that I had friends in England (etc.). Now I'm in England and trying to remember not to call family in the middle of the day, because it's the middle of the night for them.

Anyway, if you have any particular questions about anything computer related - not just about this forum - feel free to ask me. I was a tech back in the old days, and now I'm married to one. So anything I don't know the answer to, he'll know.
