Default What are your experiences as an expat??

Dear expatriates!

We are writing our bachelors thesis about “Differences between working at the home-country and working abroad”. In order to back up and test our theories, we would like to assess your experience in this matter.

We would be very grateful if you could fill in the following questionnaire. Please give your answers in as much detail as possible – this will help us a lot with the concise analysis.

Please send us your experiences to our e-mail expatriates@gmx.at

Thank you VERY much for your help, we really appreciate it!!!!

Stephanie and Julia (from Austria)

Questions regarding your work-experience as an expatriate

What are your experiences in the working field in your country of destination compared to your country of origin?

Please take the following questions as a guideline, but feel free to communicate whatever matter you regard as important.
  • How did your initial transition to your country of destination go? Are you able to recall for us some of the highs and some of the lows of your move?
  • How is interaction between colleagues, comparing to your home-country? Are there any differences at all?
  • In what way is leadership different and how is the relationship between the management and the work force?
  • Can you recall the worst working experience in your country of destination which probably would not have happened at home? Please indicate all factors that led to the negative outcome of your experience.
  • Looking at your daily working routine – are you experiencing any differences regarding rules, habits, time-frames, general working conditions etc. that occurred during your expat-experience?
