Question Storage Languishing in NJ

Hi, I am new to the forum but have been in UAE for over 4 years. I am paying a fortune for storing my belongings in a moving warehouse in New Jersey USA (where I used to live) but due to family illness I use all my vacation time to go to my parents' in another state. I would like some suggestions on how I dismantle the storage, dispose of most of it, and keep some of it, ideally only in a couple days. Are there companies that will take this on, allow me to take out what I want and then dispose of the remainder for a cut of the income? The items fill a 1-bedroom apt, there's a few nice pieces of furniture & some items that would probably do well on ebay but otherwise mostly IKEA etc. Any ideas anyone has would be welcome. I have friends in NJ but it would be an imposition to occupy their driveway and garage for a few days and I still don't know if that would be enough. Sending everything to my parents would cost over $2500. Thank you for any advice you may have.

When I decided to finally get rid of the family stuff I was storing in a movers warehouse, I wound up having to spend a few days on site, talking to the warehouse people and scouting out used furniture dealers in the area. I sold off a few pieces to a local vendor and then contacted Goodwill to have them take anything they were interested in. (Not much, I must say.) What was left, the mover/warehouse people pitched for me (and actually a couple guys in the warehouse wanted some of the lamps and stuff for their kids headed off to college).

The mover where I had the stuff stored was a local, family run business, so I may have just gotten lucky. The dispatcher in the office told me who to contact about shipping a couple pieces of furniture that I wanted to keep to France.

In any event, I'd start by asking the warehouse office staff if they can help you.
Cheers,
Bev

Thanks, I will talk to them, they're fairly "local." It's hard to argue that any of it is valuable when after 4 years I've wasted 10K storing it and more will go down the drain if I keep it there. Cheers!
